Hello Everyone,
At Bombers Elite we pride ourselves at being ahead of the curve in training. We do our best to leaving no stone unturned when introducing our athletes to the best in training.Wether it’s Brian Damato’s hitting class,Ray Fleser’s fitness class ,Stacey Mayer individual lessons , Nancy Caron with our pitchers or any of our other offered lessons we try and bring in the best at what they do. Having said that we recognized a few years back that being an elite athlete and training to play at the next level requires just as much mental training as it does physical. Everyone has heard Yogi Berra’s famous quote before! In order to introduce our athletes to this type of training we asked for help from Jess Fortunato who actually had a daughter whom played for us at the time.
In just a short time Jess was able to put together a program that not only helped our athletes on the field dealing with so many things that we rarely think about but are so important to their success, She was also able to provide them with tools that have helped them cope with the stresses of being a student athlete off the field. So many of the athletes who took this course including my own daughter have confided in me that them lessons have been vital in their growth into young adults.
Throughout the last year I have spoken with so many of you and time and time again the topic of mental Wellness has come back up. COVID-19 has added a new obstacle to overcome in guiding our young athletes to their end goals. Now more than ever our athletes are being challenged with finding a new normal all while wondering what their futures will look like. Having said all this we have decided to bring Jess back!
We have hired Jess to run a 4 week class that will be for our 14U and up athletes ( This is age group we feel will benefit most from this class) . The class will run bi-weekly in March and April on Thursday nights. This will lead us into May( Mental Health Awareness Month) where we will have some programs running to help the girls raise Mental Health Awareness to those around them who may need to know they are not alone.
In closing we understand some may see us as merely a Softball program and think our job is to only teach kids how to swing bats and throw balls but our experiences have shown us it requires so much more to attaining the goals many of them have set forth. We hope that this class and the awareness we intend to raise with it will help them along the way. Thank you !
Coach Carlos
